Journeys through the mist

You are not your thoughts

You are not your thoughts. Our thoughts take us away from being here now. If I am thinking about the past, or worried about the future, I am a prisoner of my thoughts.

The above quote is is from a post titled Mindfulness Meditation on my friend brightfeather’s blog, this time ~ this space. I do not meditate enough and need to make it a more integral part of my life. Regular meditation helps quiet the physical-mind chatter which in turn allows for a stronger connection with who we really are, and makes for more meaningful journeys. In general, it improves all aspects of our lives.

The games people play

In his October column in The Meta Arts Magazine, Dr. Hank Wesselman, PhD talks about some of The Life Games we come into the physical to experience. (Note: If you are reading this in November 2007 or later, go here for Hank’s archives.)

One interesting thing he reveals in the article is that according to Dr. Michael Newton, 73% of those now embodied on earth are young or young-intermediate souls who are typically after money, sex, power and status – the “physical foursome” as Hank calls them.

I long ago gave up on the idea of Coincidences, and it’s not coincidence or chance that little more than a quarter of those now on earth are more advanced souls. I humbly suggest you give Hank’s article a read, I believe it will be time well spent.

Consequences

The PatriarchI typically journey about three or four times a week. Sometimes I have a destination or a subject in mind before hand and sometimes I do not. Sometimes after I get to my Sacred Garden an idea for a journey occurs to me, or is suggested by my helping spirits, and sometimes I just sit, relax and unwind.

Sunday night I didn’t really have anything particular in mind when I headed off for my Sacred Garden. After arriving I offered my customary greeting to all those spirits that are in relation with me, and then told my spirit helpers, guides and ancestors that I was leaving the journey up to them. I immediately found myself at the head of the trail off one side of my Sacred Garden that leads to the lower worlds; the dreamtime of the earth, animal and nature spirits. The trail emptied out into a large clearing, and in the middle of the clearing was the spirit of the tree I wrote about in my post titled Grand Tetons, The Patriarch. I greeted my friend and asked if he had a message for me. I felt the spirit of the tree embrace me and my journey began.

A little at a time

I have a post in draft about the fact that the most effective way for us to change the world is for us to first work on ourselves. When we have our own houses in order, it flows out and effects others around us, like ripples on a pond. An overused analogy, but it is true.

My friend Melynn has a post on her blog titled, Fixing the World, from an article by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, that expresses this idea very beautifully.

Truth lies within us

Truth lies within ourselves: it takes no rise from outward things, whatever you may believe. There is an inmost center in us all, where truth abides in fullness and to Know rather consists in opening out a way whence the imprisoned splendor may escape than in effecting entry for light supposed to be without. — Robert Browning
