Consequences

The PatriarchI typically journey about three or four times a week. Sometimes I have a destination or a subject in mind before hand and sometimes I do not. Sometimes after I get to my Sacred Garden an idea for a journey occurs to me, or is suggested by my helping spirits, and sometimes I just sit, relax and unwind.

Sunday night I didn’t really have anything particular in mind when I headed off for my Sacred Garden. After arriving I offered my customary greeting to all those spirits that are in relation with me, and then told my spirit helpers, guides and ancestors that I was leaving the journey up to them. I immediately found myself at the head of the trail off one side of my Sacred Garden that leads to the lower worlds; the dreamtime of the earth, animal and nature spirits. The trail emptied out into a large clearing, and in the middle of the clearing was the spirit of the tree I wrote about in my post titled Grand Tetons, The Patriarch. I greeted my friend and asked if he had a message for me. I felt the spirit of the tree embrace me and my journey began.

Recovering and maintaining your personal power

Published by Richard under Life on Earth, Shamanism

In my post titled Cleaning out the attic I mentioned that it takes energy to maintain things we keep in our attics. There is a limit to the amount of energy available to us, which is simply a part of the earth life system. When we are using a large percentage of what we can pull in, it can make us vulnerable to illness. Now days when I get a cold or flu (rare anymore) I will shut down all outside operation (no work, no travel, et-cetera) and basically allow my body and system to have as much of my energy as it needs to take care of the problem. I of course also journey and ask my helping spirits to work on it for me as well. Hank Wesselman has a good article on The Classic Causes of Illness he wrote for The Meta Arts magazine that I highly recommend.

My friend Deb and I from time to time do a thing she calls tripping, where we basically journey while on the phone and look into things for each other. On one of our trips a few years ago, she found some “cords” as she described them, attached to me. She said they did not originate from me, but from somewhere else and there was an energy flow coming from me down the cord. She asked if she could disconnect them, and I told her to go ahead. I had been experiencing a cold that had been hanging on for far longer than it should have, and within a couple days, I was back to normal.

A taste of Visionseeker 1

Published by Richard under Shamanism

In March of 2005, I attended the first five day Visionseeker 1 retreat (VS1) taught by Hank Wesselman and Jill Kuykendall, at Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA, titled “Shamanism” and the Modern Mystical Movement,” and I thought I would share a few experiences with you. The following is a description of the VS1 retreat from the Shared Wisdom website.

This retreat includes elements of the three weekend workshops, but in greater depth. We will utilize the classic shamanic journey method to establish connections with our spirit helpers and teachers, ancestral spirits, and possibly descendants. We will begin to examine the nature of health, illness, and healing from the perspective of the traditional shaman, and the week will conclude with a powerful healing ritual. This workshop provides a clear introduction for those less familiar with the shaman’s path and will enhance the practice of more experienced inner travelers.
